We named our farm "Tall Corn" for two reasons. First, we are surrounded by fields of the tallest corn in the county. Second, I remember from childhood hearing the expression "we're in tall corn" and was told it meant good, prosperous times. Please give us the opportunity to help your business be in tall corn too.
We pride ourselves on our growing alpaca business and intend to keep it a manageable size in order to provide the care ourselves. We breed for colored huacayas ranging from fawn to true black and are beginning to emphasize browns and blacks. One aspect I particularly enjoy about this business is researching pedigrees and histories to select our foundation herd and to determine the best pairings for breedings. Our goal is for our beautifully colored fleeces to match the superior qualities of whites. Our herdsire, Don Raul took 2nd Place Black Male at 2007 AOBA Nationals. Our roster of dams includes 6Peruvian Silent Night who is a producer of award-winning crias and was Snowmass' first pick in the 1998 Peruvian import. In selecting our animals, we focus on ancestry, quality, and reproducibility of desired traits, rather than country of origin.
